楕円のカッティングボード

アメリカの現代美術の芸術家、エルスワース・ケリーの楕円をモチーフにカッティンングボードをつくった。彼の単色で塗られたシンプルで純粋な幾何学形態の作品には、彼が描いた植物の線画ドローイングから感じる有機的で繊細な感覚が不思議と宿っているように思う。

楕円には、有機的で自然で自由な性格と、数学的で幾何学な性格、相反するふたつのニュアンスが含まれているように感じる。

不完全で完全なかたち。
人工的で自然なかたち。

木の板にかたちを与えることを考えた末に
辿りついたかたち。

ellipse cutting board

I made a cutting board with the ellipse motif of Ellsworth Kelly, an American contemporary artist. His monochromatic, simple geometric works seem to have a organic and delicate feeling that can be felt from his drawings of plants.
I think that the ellipse contains two contradictory nuances: the organic, natural, and free character, and the mathematical, geometric character.

imperfect and perfect form.
artificial and natural.

This is the shape I arrived at after thinking about how to give a shape to a wooden board.
